It’s popular for a reason. This LED Pixel Tape Kit uses hardly any electricity at just 7.2W consumption per metre. As a result of having less electrical wear and tear, it also has an estimated lifespan of up to 50,000 hours. Even if you use them for an average of 8 hours per day, that’s nearly 20 years of use!

An equivalent halogen light would use over 8 times more energy to provide the 510 lumens our pixel tape shines with.

Feature Packed And Versatile

One of the great things about this 1m pixel tape kit is just how multipurpose it is. The 120^o beam angle makes it great for general illumination as they distribute their light across a wide spread.

If 1m is too much, you’re able to cut the tape down to length at 10cm intervals, though if you do need additional lengths of our pixel tape, we also have kits that come in 2m, 3m, 4m and 5m packs.

It is important to know that if you do cut your pixel tape you will not be able to return the kit, as we cannot accept custom lengths of strip light, so please take the utmost care if you do need to cut your tape.

On top of this, you also have the option of adding IP65 protection to your strip lights. This makes your pixel tape completely dust proof and immune to light jets of water from any direction.

Of course what this means for you is that you can safely use your pixel tape outdoors – perhaps in the garden. You could also use them in other indoor areas where it might be exposed to water such as the kitchen or bathroom.

The 12mm width gives you the opportunity to get some profiles to really finish off your look. We would recommend our 1m Wide Aluminium Profile. The inner width of 13mm means it can comfortably house the pixel tape.

The choice of a clear or frosted diffuser also gives you some freedom as to what kind of effect you want your pixel tape to have. Whilst these benefits are purely aesthetic, there is a practical advantage to using a profile too. And it’s a big one.

The aluminium construction helps to dissipate any heat generated by the lights – therefore increasing the lifespan by up to 50%. This alone makes an aluminium profile well worth your consideration.

The Advantages Of LED

There are many reasons why LEDs are so much better than their incandescent and fluorescent counterparts.

For a start, halogen lights need filters to be able to shine with any RGB colours – LEDs can give off any colour on their own, making products like our pixel tape a lot easier to use. This is all before we start to get into the technical details.

As mentioned above, LEDs have massively longer lifespans compared to both halogens and fluorescents – 20 times and 2 times the lifespans respectively.

The reason for this is because of how much more energy efficient they are. Halogen bulbs lose up to 80% of their energy to heat wastage, which is why they get so hot during use. Compared to this, LEDs lose just 10% of their energy to heat – resulting in a tenfold increase in efficiency.

There are 3 main benefits to this – you buy less replacement lights because LEDs last so long, your electricity bills come for less as they use less energy, and they’re much safer to use because of their cooler operating temperature.

The other effect this has is that they’re far greener to use, giving them environmental benefits too.
