For the sheer volume of choices available, their absolute simplicity, amazing flexibility and energy-efficiency, there really are no better lighting products than LED strip lights!
Not only that, they’ll enable you to achieve some incredible and stunning lighting effects that, previously, you could only ever dream of.
To be had in a dizzying array of different varieties, you’ll be able to choose from a massive range and find the type that’s perfect to suit your particular lighting requirements.
If ease of installation and convenience are important to you, you’ll be happy to discover that there are LED strip light kits available.
They include all the aforementioned types, packed in lengths from 1-metre to 5-metres, together with a corresponding Plug-and-Play Power Adaptor.
Should the dimensions of your space dictate a shorter length of tape, or if you require it customised to form multiple lengths, you can cut it very easily using just a pair of household scissors.
The tape is marked at 10cm intervals to assist you and when cut, the ends can simply be adjoined with an LED strip light connector without the need for any bothersome soldering.
The connectors are amongst a whole swathe of LED accessories, and which you choose will be dependant upon whether your tape is of the 3528 or the 5050 variety.
To achieve an incredibly professional-looking installation and to ensure the LED strip lights continue to perform optimally for their full 50,000 hour expected life-span, Aluminium LED Profiles are recommended.
Whilst it’s possible to affix the strips using their 3M adhesive backing tape, the profiles are a much more permanent option, also allowing the tape’s wide 120° beam angle to be maximised.
In comparison with traditional fluorescent and incandescent light sources, LED strip lights are incredibly energy-efficient, requiring a tiny proportion of the electricity to power them, yet producing the same amount of light.
LED tape is manufactured using only 100% recyclable materials, so it’s less likely to end up in landfill sites, unlike the majority of worn-out traditional lights.
Halogens also contain between 0.04 and 0.7 mg of Mercury, a highly toxic element which is released into the environment in the event of a breakage. LEDs require no harmful substances to produce their light, making them much more ecologically-friendly.
Based on an average 8 hour working day, LED strips will function for 17.12 years, more than twice the lifetime of a halogen bulb and many times that of an incandescent.
And speaking of longevity, or lack thereof, inefficient “D”-class halogen bulbs are due to begin being phased out in Europe, on the 1st of September 2018, so it certainly looks as though LEDs are here to stay, in more ways than one!
