Spring BlossomSpring is officially here – and we want to celebrate it!

Spring has long been synonymous with ideas of rebirth, renewal and regrowth. According to tradition, the last official day of winter is March 19th.

The following day is the vernal equinox – a bi-annual celestial event where day and night are exactly the same length. This day also heralds the start of springtime.

The relative position of the Sun and the Earth aren’t the only indication that spring has arrived. As well as the much warmer weather, some other signs of spring include bluebell shoots, tree buds and birds’ nests, all of which the Woodland Trust urge us to keep a look out for in the weeks running up to March.

Spring is also a time for celebration for many cultures. In addition to well-known festivals like Easter and May Day, people of the Hindu faith celebrate Holi – the festival of colours, during which people throw water and coloured powder to one another.

The Sikh faith also celebrates Vaisakhi in the spring, which is the Punjabi New Year, though the birth of the Khalsa – the purest Sikhs – is also celebrated, usually on April 13th.

To celebrate spring’s arrival, we’ve devised a special offer for all our loyal customers – if you’ve shopped with us previously and are signed up to our newsletter, you’ll have received an email containing a unique promotional code, entitling you to a 10% discount on all orders until April 10th.

To use the code, simply copy and paste it into the ‘promotional code’ section of your shopping basket, and the discount will be applied automatically.

What better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than buying some low energy LED lights? They use up to 90% less energy than conventional halogens, and last 20 times longer – with most of our LEDs lasting up to 50,000 hours!

With the days getting longer again, it might also be worth considering your garden lighting. We’ve got a wide selection of LED flood lights which are low energy replacements for your existing garden lights.
