Lightbulb

With the imminent ban on halogen light bulbs coming in 2018, now is the time to make the switch to LED lighting.

With so many products on offer, making the jump can be a bit daunting. So why not deal with the basics first – and replace your light bulbs to begin with?

What Do I Need To Get Started?

Switching your light bulbs over are the easiest way to get on board with LEDs because they require no other additional purchases.

Each of our bulbs are considered to be retrofit LED light bulbs – they use the same fittings as your existing halogens.

We stock E27, E14, B22 and B15 fittings, as well as mains voltage G9 bulbs and low voltage G4 bulbs.

On top of this, there are also a range of shapes and styles to choose from. This includes GLS, candle and golf ball designs.

Start Saving Money

Replacing your old halogens is the easiest way to start reaping the benefits of LED lighting.

The biggest difference it makes to you is the amount of money they save you.

It all stems from how energy efficient they are. They only lose 10% of their energy to heat wastage. Halogens on the other hand lose up to 80% to heat – explaining why they get so hot when they’ve been on for a while.

The lower energy demands of LEDs result in cheaper electricity bills for you, as they use up to 90% less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs.

The cooler operating temperatures give them massively long lifespans too as there is less wear and tear on the insides from excess heat.

Most of our LED bulbs will keep going for up to 50,000 hours – twice as long as compact fluorescent lights and 20 times longer than incandescent bulbs.

This then means that you spend a lot less on replacements. LED bulbs may cost marginally more, but they are an investment. Over the course of roughly a year, the bulb will have paid for itself in the amount saved on bills and replacements.

All The Different Options

We’re sure you’ll find the product you’re looking for because of the wide range of LED bulbs we stock.

Most people will shop by base – and we’ve got all of them covered.

The two most common types are the E27 and B22 fittings. They consist of a large screw and bayonet respectively.

Pretty much every house in the UK uses at least one of these types of fitting.

The E14 and B15 are smaller variations of the aforementioned bases, and are more commonly used in chandeliers, wall sconces and table lamps.

It’s also important to consider the other specs too, like the wattage, equivalent wattage, lumen count and beam angle. These are all important aspects to look at as they have a massive impact on the effect created by your lights.

Another important feature to look at is what kind of colour temperature you would like too. Our bulbs are available in 2 different options – warm white (3000K) and cool white (6000K).

Warm white is great for the living room or bedroom because of the cosy feeling it helps create. Cool white is better suited to places where you need to be alert, like the office or the kitchen.
