LED Strip Lights

LED strip lighting really is an incredible product! It represents a versatile, cost-effective and energy-efficient way of illuminating your home both conveniently and, very often, spectacularly.

The term “LED Strip Light” is such a simple one, but it encompasses a product that will enable you to light up every single room or space you can imagine, and that’s guaranteed!

So, here are just a few ideas about its potential uses around your home.

In The Living Room

Telly In A Living Room

Most people have a telly in their living rooms, right?  Well, to create an incredible lighting effect that will make your viewing experience even more enjoyable, you can back-light it very simply using any type of LED strip lighting.

For your convenience and ease of installation, all of our LED strip lights come complete with self-adhesive 3M backing tape, so just follow these simple steps and you’ll have an amazing and eye-catching installation:

The size of your television will dictate the length of the LED strip light you’ll require. With our LED strip light kits, which contain from 1-metre to 5-metre lengths of LED strip, plus a plug-and-play transformer, you’ll be able to purchase just the right length to suit the size of your TV.

Some people simply stick the single length of LED strip light all the way around the back of the TV, however, pinching the strip to accommodate the TV’s shape brings with it the risk damaging the LEDs (Light-Emitting Diodes) themselves.

A much better idea is to cut the strip to length using a pair of sharp, household scissors, and then adjoin the ends with some Corner Connectors which are designed specifically for this type of application.

Of course, the type of LED strip you choose is completely up to you, but a lot of our customers use the RGB Colour 12-volt Tape. When controlled by the RGB Colour Touch Remote, you’ll be able to achieve a limitless number of colours, as well as 9 different lighting effects, all of which are illustrated below:

And, voila, you’ve created a stunning back-lit television with the absolute minimum of mess or fuss!

A very similar effect can be achieved with your large mirrors, and framed pictures can be back-lit to give them that extra bit of va-va-voom!

Couch With LED Strip Lights Lighting

If you’re particularly enamoured with the look of your TV, you might even consider back or under-lighting your couch using LED strip lights; some people have gone so far as to install LED strips inside them so the light shines through the fabric. The possibilities are literally endless!

On The Stairs

We use our stairs every day of the week; 365 days a year, and usually first thing in the morning and last thing at night, when there’s the distinct possibility of darkness and poor visibility.

Stair Light

Lights merely placed adjacent to or above the staircase might just not provide sufficient brightness or be shape-defining enough, and this is where LED strips come into their own.

If you have wall-to-wall carpet on your staircase, you can simply affix your LED strip light to the staircase skirting board, so that it follows the steps up diagonally. However, if your staircase is wooden, you’ll be able to install the strip onto either the treads (the part of the stair that you stand on), or to the risers (the vertical part of the step).

The choice is yours, but a safe and simple choice would be the 12-volt or 24-volt Single Colour LED strip, which, unlike the aforementioned RGB tape, is not colour-changing. After all, you wouldn’t want your stair light to begin strobing when you were half way up or down, would you?

This type of LED strip is, however, available in red, green, blue and pink, as well as warm white, cool white and daylight colour temperatures, so your staircase won’t just be safer, it’ll become a definite talking point too!

In The Bathroom

Our journey around the home is almost complete, but before we leave, we must visit the bathroom!

LED strip lights will be perfectly at home in your bathroom. You’ll be able to install them beneath shelves, around vanity units and chests of drawers, or even around the sink or bath itself.

Again, any type of LED strip light will work, depending upon the simplicity or complexity of the effect you wish to create, however, we strongly advise you to choose a variety that incorporates a high level of Ingress Protection, especially as you’ll be using it in fairly close proximity to water.

Toilet With Lights

An IP65 rating will protect your LED strip from both dust and low-pressure jets of water, so that should be more than sufficient.  If, however, you’d like to illuminate the inside of your bathtub (and why not?), you should definitely go for an IP68-rated strip such as our incredible RGB LED Pixel Tape, because it’s capable of generating some sensational colour-changing lighting effects even underwater!

Finally, here’s another idea we just thought of!
