Safety should never be anything but a top priority when choosing for your home. That’s why our Fire Rated GU10 Fixed Downlight is such a good option.
It brings together all the qualities of our other downlights, and brings with it fire rated protection. The GU10 base ensures compatibility with all our GU10 spotlights, though you have the option of buying it with bulbs included too.
Manufactured by Mirrorstone, this fire rated downlight only requires a 65mm hole to be cut in your ceiling for use, with its diameter a relatively small 85mm. It’s finished in brass so you’ll love the way it looks too.
You’ll have a couple of options open to you when you buy this GU10 downlight, and the first is whether you want dimmable light or not. Please bear in mind that if you do choose this option, you will need a trailing edge dimmer.
Existing leading edge dimmers can’t be guaranteed to work and could even damage the LEDs.
The other option you’ll have is a choice of colour temperatures. A selection of warm white (3000K), and cool white (6000K) is open to you.
Warm white is great for areas that need to feel comfortable like the living room or bedroom, whereas cool white is probably better for areas that need to be well lit like the kitchen or office.
The NeoTecline has been fully updated to deliver the absolute best that a downlight can be. With such a sturdy design, these fire rated materials have been streamlined to provide better fire protection, with a stylish appearance that looks great. The design has been revamped to include better heat dissipation, increasing the lifespan of your bulb.
What Does Fire Rated Mean?
In any given building, the ceiling acts as a barrier between different floors and helps slow the spread of any fires.
This GU10 fixed downlight requires a hole to be cut in the ceiling though, weakening the level of protection.
Although the downlight itself fills the hole, there are tiny gaps between the edge of the cutting and the downlight itself. This allows air and heat to pass through.
Fire rated products however are made from intumescent material, so it swells up as it gets hotter.
This fills the gaps up and makes the cutting hole air tight, restoring the safety levels that your ceiling had prior to installation.
This protection is good for up to 90 minutes, which is more than enough time for you to evacuate your premises and call emergency services.
Although fire rated products generally cost more than standard downlights, we feel that the extra money is well worth it for the safety benefits alone.
You could save money though by checking out our discount and promotional offers page, where our series of codes could give you up to 20% off selected items.
You should also know that if you buy 10 or more units, you’ll qualify for extra savings thanks to multi buy discounts.
Your Other Options
A downlight isn’t much good without a spotlight. Although you’ll have the option of buying bulbs with your GU10 downlight, you do still have the freedom to purchases these separately.
Here are some of our recommendations.
One of our best sellers is our 3.3W GU10 LED 80 SMD. It shines with 400 lumens but only uses a tiny 3.3W. An equivalent incandescent would use 50W – that’s over 15 times more energy!
