Lighting Terms You Need To Know

With all the technical jargon surrounding LED lighting, you may find yourself stumped as to what half of them mean! That’s why we are here to provide you with simple definitions.

Lumen Rating: Many people believe that light intensity is measured in watts but it is actually measured in lumens. By rule of thumb - the higher the number of lumens, the brighter the bulb will be. We advise that you always opt for a light or bulb with a high lumen rating and low wattage.

Watts: Commonly used in the lighting industry, the wattage refers to the power consumption of the bulb/fitting and the rate at which energy is drawn from it. As LEDs have a low wattage, they use less energy and are incredibly cost-effective.
