The term ‘beam angle’ refers to the angle at which light is emitted from a light source. They are typically measured in degrees – with some being put into wider classifications like spotlights or floodlights.

Spotlights cast a narrow beam angle, that is usually no more than 45°. This is very focused, which makes it easier to point and control.

Floodlights, on the other hand, cast a much wider beam which can pan up to 120°. Despite the light intensity being a little lower, the coverage is large and fab for commercial environments.
