Cutting Hole (mm):
NeoTec Fire Rated Short Can GU10 Downlight Fixed - Chrome Description
Safety is at the top of the agenda with our Fire Rated Chrome GU10 Short Can Downlight.
The short can adds to the convenience, as it will still install into ceilings where the recess space is shallower than normal – requiring only 80mm of recess depth.
A relatively small 65mm cutting hole is the only other thing that is needed, slotting in neatly, leaving its 85mm diameter chrome finish behind on show for all to see.
The fairly neutral finish means it will look good in any interior colour scheme. The real draw of this GU10 downlight however is the fact that it is fire rated.
When installed, there will be tiny gaps between the cutting hole and the edge of the downlight. This allows heat and air to pass through in the event of a fire – giving as good as no protection.
This LED downlight is made from intumescent material – so it expands when exposed to heat. This closes up the gaps and makes your ceiling air tight. This protection lasts up to 90 minutes, which is more than enough time for you to get you and your loved ones out of your house.
Although fire rated fittings generally cost fractionally more than standard downlights, we feel the extra cost is justified purely on the safety benefits alone – as you cannot put a price on safety.
Have a look through all our GU10 downlights for products available in different colours, IP ratings and fire ratings. Over there you can find fire rated GU10s, IP65 fire rated, standard fittings, IP65 fittings and short can downlights like the one in question.
The NeoTec line has been fully updated to deliver the absolute best that a downlight can be. With such a sturdy design, these fire rated materials have been streamlined to provide better fire protection, with a stylish appearance that looks great. The design has been revamped to include better heat dissipation, increasing the lifespan of your bulb.
The Choice Before You Buy
One of the options you’ll have when you buy your GU10 downlight is whether you want bulbs with it or not. If you choose to, you’ll pick between warm white (3000K) and cool white (6000K).
The only difference is the perceived warmth of the light that is emitted, and is measured in Kelvins.Warm white is better for areas like the living area or bedroom, as it emits a shade very similar to conventional halogens that makes the place very welcoming and homely.
You can of course buy your spotlights separately. We have a whole range of GU10 spotlights to choose from, but we do have a couple of recommendations for you too.
It manages this despite its super low power consumption of just 3.3W. With 50,000 hours of life and a beam angle of 120o, this all comes together to make a fantastic spotlight with no real weaknesses.
The other recommendation we have for you is our 6W Dimmable GU10 LED 27 SMD. It consumes a bit more power at 6W but shines brighter at a maximum of 450 lumens.
It retains the brilliant lifespan and 120o beam angle of our 3.3W, but brings in dimmable functionality – allowing you to alter the brightness.
Please be aware though that you will need a trailing edge dimmer to use dimmable LEDs. Using a leading edge dimmer may not work and could even damage the LEDs.
Start The Switch To LEDs Today!
There are loads of reasons why you should use LEDs and ditch your old halogens and fluorescents.
Chief among them are the money saving benefits. The immense lifespan means that you won’t have to buy replacements all the time.
They’re also really energy efficient, losing 10 times less energy to heat wastage compared to halogens. This means that you electricity bills come for less as they use less power than their incandescent counterparts.
That’s not the only way you could save money either – our discount codes page could save you up to 20% off selected items.
