The new and improved UltraSpot range delivers incredible-looking downlights with a difference. They include updated intumescent materials to lengthen the amount of time it takes for fire to spread. They have a tighter design with better heat sink technology in order to increase energy-efficiency.
The Real Safety Benefit
Whilst MR16 bulbs provide some degree of additional safety because of their low voltage, the real security from this product comes from the fact that it’s fire rated.
The ceiling in any given room normally acts as a protective barrier that shields the spread of fire between floors.
Cutting holes in the ceiling so you can install your LED downlights compromise this barrier. Even after the downlight has been fitted, there will still be tiny gaps between the hole and the edge of the light.
These gaps can let heat and air pass through, which won’t do much to stop fires spreading.
Fire rated downlights though are made from intumescent material – they swell up when exposed to heat.
This closes the gaps in the ceiling and restores the protection your ceiling would otherwise give you. This will last up to 90 minutes, which is more than enough time for you to evacuate your property.
Although fire rated products cost marginally more than standard ones, we feel the added price is justified by the safety benefits.
The ways you can save money mentioned above can also help you offset some of this cost too.
All You Need Is...
So our downlight gives you safety in abundance, ease of use and a subtle, classy finish. What do you need to bring?
Just a 90mm cutting hole, your own bulbs and a compatible driver.
The cutting hole is simple, but the other 2 might need a bit of thought. Don’t worry, we’re here to help.
The really convenient thing about this particular MR16 spotlight though, is that you can optionally have a driver bundled with it, eliminating the need to buy one separately. This helps streamline the process of setting up your downlight.
If you still need a driver though, our 6W LED Driver would be a great option. It installs seamlessly between your mains and your spotlight, and even comes with an IP44 rating – perfect for use in the bathroom or kitchen.
Please make sure you check out our wider range of fire rated MR16 downlights, to ensure you’re getting the best product.
