NeoTec Fire Rated Short Can Downlight GU10 Fixed Satin Chrome Diecast Description

Take no chances with our Fire Rated Short Can GU10 Fixed Downlight – helping protect against the spread of fire in your house.

A satin chrome finish laid over the Diecast construction gives a strong construction along with an attractive exterior. This makes it great to use pretty much anywhere in the house.

The GU10 base ensures compatibility with our entire range of GU10 spotlights, giving you freedom of choice when it comes to actually providing light.

We would recommend one of our best sellers – the 3.3W GU10 LED 80 SMD. It’s hugely energy efficient with just 3.3W power consumption, but provides 400 lumens of light and a lifespan of 50,000 hours – that’s nearly 20 years!

It’s easy to use as well. Once the 75mm hole has been cut, the short can ensures it can fit in any ceiling where recess space might be limited.

The spring loaded connector also ensures simple installation too, negating the need for any screwdrivers.

These aren’t even the best features about this LED downlight either.

Introducing NeoTec

The NeoTec line has been fully updated to deliver the absolute best that a downlight can be. With such a sturdy design, these fire rated materials have been streamlined to provide better fire protection, with a stylish appearance that looks great. The design has been revamped to include better heat dissipation, increasing the lifespan of your bulb.

Halting The Spread Of Fire

Safety was the primary objective when Mirrorstone offered this fixed GU10 downlight. They did this by ensuring the product was fire rated.

In any given building, the ceiling acts as a protective barrier between floors and helps stop fire spreading up or down.

This LED downlight however requires a hole to be cut in the ceiling for use, compromising the integrity of the protection the ceiling would normally provide.

Normal downlights would leave tiny gaps between the cutting and the actual fitting itself, allowing air and heat to pass through.

This fire rated downlight however is made from intumescent material – it swells up when exposed to heat and closes the tiny gaps that would otherwise be there.

The result is an air tight ceiling, and this protection is good for up to 90 minutes – more than enough time to evacuate the premises and for emergency services to come and extinguish the blaze.

Fire rated products are marginally more expensive than ones that aren’t, however we feel that you can’t really put a price on safety when you and your loved ones are concerned. For us, fire rated lighting solutions are well worth the money for the safety guarantees alone.

Some of the increased price can be offset by the potential savings on offer. Up to 20% off is available on selected items through our various discounts and promotional codes we have through the year. That’s not all though.

Hot? Cold? Dimmable? The Choices Are Yours!

You’ll be able to choose whether you want bulbs with this downlight or not when you buy it. Buying with bulbs opens up a couple of other choices for you too.

Dimmable light is the first option, but it is worth knowing that if you want dimmable bulbs, you’ll need a trailing edge dimmer. Existing leading edge dimmers aren’t guaranteed to be entirely compatible with LED lights and in worst case scenarios, could even damage the bulbs too.

The other option that you will have is what kind of colour temperature you want. There’s 2 to pick from – warm white (3000K) and cool white (6000K).

Warm white creates more of a homely atmosphere, whereas cool white feels a little more clinical because of its brighter light. Both have their uses though.

Warm white is better for areas where you need to feel comfortable, such as the living room or bedroom. Cool white is suited for places where you might need to concentrate like the kitchen or the office.

Of course the other choice you’ll have is from our wider range of GU10 downlights if you’re looking for something a little different.
