What Is Colour Temperature?

Correlated colour temperature is a term used to describe how warm or cool a white light source is. There are two main types being warm white (3000K) and cool white (6000K) light. There are other variations including daylight (4000K) and amber filaments. It is so versatile as colour temperature is measured on the Kelvin Spectrum which can vary from 1000K up to 10,000K.

What’s the difference and which should I opt for you ask? Well, warm white (3000K) light produces a yellow, almost orange glow. This is perfect for the bedroom and living area as this type of light helps the mind wind down.

Cool white (6000K) light produces a much icier, starker light which is fantastic to improve concentration and productivity. Usually found in the kitchen or bathroom, this type of light is incredibly complementary to modern and minimal homes.
